Origins
Cricket is a team sport that dates back at least to the Middle Ages. This was when it evolved from an ancient bats-and-ball match. It is believed that it originated in the Greater Punjab region, an area of India subcontinent, today located between Pakistan and North India. It is believed it spread to other regions of the world, reaching South Africa, Australia and the United States. While its history is still uncertain, it is thought that early forms of the sport date back at least to the 13th century when nomads traversed through Turkey and Eastern Europe. The game could also have been originated in India.
Laws
The Laws for Cricket are a set of rules for the game. These rules ensure fair play. Both teams and players must use the same area, known as the pitch. The Ground Authority has the responsibility of selecting and preparing the pitch. Once the game begins, the umpires are responsible for keeping the pitch fit for play. Professional cricket games almost always take place on grass pitches.
Pitch sizes
Although pitch sizes for cricket vary from one league to the next, they are based on an imperial system. A yard is 3 feet long, and a length of about 220 meters is a length of about 220 yards. Ideally, a cricket pitch should be one chain long. Pitch sizes for cricket sport are also determined by the materials used to construct the field.
Strategy
Strategies are key to winning matches in cricket. There are three types strategy: individual player strategies and sub-team strategies. The organization has created a video explaining its Plan and how it will help grow female cricket participation.
Golden age
The period 1890 to 1914 is often considered the 'Golden Age of Cricket'. The sport prospered under aristocratic patronage but also enjoyed the support and encouragement of the lower classes. Railways made it possible for teams to travel easier to various locations. Moreover, many spectators could also travel from a distance to watch the matches.
